FAQ about Abu Bakr Foundation

01
Q: What is Abu Bakr Foundation?
A: It is an organization formed to give back to the society. On anything. From funding to public services. At the moment we focus more on young children on their studies, orphans and orphanage shelters, by giving support through fund, motivational talks, providing tuition classes and so on. And this is just the beginning. By time and God's willing we will try to widen up the focus. The main point is to give back to the society.

02
Q: Why is it named Abu Bakr?
A: It is named after Saidina Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, the first Caliph of Islam. He is well known among others because of his generosity, whereas he donated all his belongings for the cause of Islam.

03
Q: Who are you guys? And where do you come from?
A: Well, we are a bunch of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS alumni and has been close friends ever since. Obviously we are from Malaysia, but we did not stay in one place although most of us stay in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. Our main medium of interactions are through email and whatsapp. However once in a while we will gather up for a meeting to catch up news about everybody, and of course about the foundation.

04
Q: How does this organization are financed?
A: Totally 100% from the contribution of the members. There is no restriction on how much they need to contribute, they can donate as low as RM1 to RM1000, or if they decide not to, it is up to them.

05
Q: Who are the members? Does the membership is open to outsiders?
A: At the moment the members are more comfortable to remain anonymous. And whether the membership is open to the outsiders, well, we did not discuss this thoroughly, yet. Maybe will do in the near future, but for the moment we will remain with what we have right now, mainly because it is easier to manage. The point is it is not impossible if we open the membership to the outsiders in the future.

06
Q: Is this legal?
A: If you mean by giving away to the society, of course it is legal. But we weren't registered to the SSM or ROS yet, but we were thinking to. This is definitely the next course of action that we are planning to do.
